GLOW Club News

Thanks to all your generous donations, exciting things have been happening in 2009 for the GLOW club!

The slew of holiday donations enabled the club to invest in some goats. The girls were trained in goat husbandry and hope to raise and sell the goats for years to come as an ongoing income generating project that they can sustain locally within their village. So far this has been a great success and the girls are all very proud of their goats!

In January, some of the older girls took exams to get into higher levels of schooling. GLOW Club member Christabel scored high on her exams and was accepted into an excellent boarding school. Thanks to donations, she was able to pay her school fees and lodging expenses, purchase the required uniform and other materials. We wish Christabel good luck at her new school!

Making beaded jewelry has been a continued source of fun and group support for the girls. They have enjoyed improving their beading skills together over the past year, and the result is a large set of new necklaces that really blew us away. We'll have them up in the store soon, so stay tuned!

Partners with GLOW News

In other news, Partners with GLOW cofounder Alyssa Mooney has ended her Peace Corps service and is in the San Francisco Bay Area for the month of April. She will then return to Zambia for a 2 year contract with USAID. We are excited that she will continue to help us support the GLOW Club and aid in their continued success.

So, for the first time ever, the Partners with GLOW team is together in San Francisco, and we're making use of this time by throwing a benefit show! If you live in the SF Bay Area, come on out and show your support by shaking your booty all night long!
